Get that fancy new Samsung Picture TV for $35 bucks! Okay...so you can't actually do that, but you can kinda, sorta, almost have your TV do what it does.
If you're having a party and want to display a painting or picture on your TV instead of it being a giant black square, I have a quick hack for you using FireTv (although I'm sure other aircast programs have a similar option).

As I said, this is for the Firestick, because it's what I have. We absolutely love it, we actually have three and have only one cable box now. We also use it at our RV in the summer and bring it when we go on vacation.
I have Netflix, Hulu, and of course Prime all streaming on it. Plus a lot of channels have their own app, I love the FoodNetwork one where I can watch Barefoot Contessa to my heart's content.
Anyway this isn't about that. If you have a Firestick you will need to download Amazon Photos.
Then from your phone or computer upload whatever the picture you want to display to the app.
Open the Amazon Photo app on your Firestick and open the photo you want to display. Press "play" so that the photo comes into focus and hit "pause" when it is displayed the way you like.
That's it, the photo will stay like that until you change it.
Now I will say since this is static, depending on your TV it could "burn" the image into the TV so be wary of that (you could set it to pan and zoom if you're concerned which will keep the photo but move it). You can also set the same photo to a screensaver if you prefer that, but again it will be panning and moving. You can do this in settings.
I wouldn't do this all the time, but it could be fun for taking some photos of your decor or when you have some people over.
Someday I'll have the fancy picture TV, someday! Until then, thanks Amazon!
