I've got #goals as the youngins would say...or maybe they wouldn't. I'm finding the longer I spend in my third decade on earth, the less I know what "cool" is. I'm okay with it too. I wasn't going to do a "goals" post originally, but I just looked back at a post from last year where I outlined my plan for 2018 and it was really great for me to see what I accomplished (more than I realized) and what I still need to work on. So in keeping with the same trend, these are (some of) my goals for Grace and Maura in 2019. This post is more for me to keep accountable, but also to give you a heads up of some of the things to look for in 2019! Thanks for all of your support last year, it means more than you know! Grace and Maura The Blog . and Social Media As far as the physical blog goes, I want to continue to grow. Last year I wrote about creating a community of like minded people. I'm definitely starting to find that. Growth has been slow, but this has definitely been a quality over quantity situation. I have met some amazing people in the blogger/decor community. I have started to develop real friendships and genuinely look forward to checking in with people each day. Even though my follower count is low, those followers that I have are genuine people, and I feel very grateful that they have chosen to invest their time in me. I'd like to streamline this site a bit, clean it up and make it more user friendly. I learned some basic editing techniques this year, so I'd like to continue to improve my photography. One big goal I have is to really learn more about SEO. I understand it in theory, but not so much in practice. I'm also thinking about a rebrand, which I realize I did at this same time last year. I'm holding off because I only want to rebrand once. I'd like to do something more with my name, but we will see. For now Grace and Maura is suiting me, but I am thinking of some other possibilities. Finally I'd like to get better at batching content since it will allow me to bring you more. I would like to start some weekly series, but in order to do that, I need to get more organized with writing, photos, and editing as well as filming. I've started a content calendar, so I'm really excited to see if that helps me! Grace and Maura At Home I've also got some projects on the horizon. Last year I wrote that I wanted to build ladder shelves for my dining room and remodel a camper. I did both of those things. I created a shelving system to turn the spare room into a closet, though the room itself still has a long way to go, and made a fun blanket ladder for the living room. I never got around to the Master Bedroom remodel, but I'm starting it now! I also built a coffee bar which wasn't one of my goals, but its truly my favorite piece now. Once we take our tree down (yes its still up), I'd like to build something similar to the Arhause modular book cases for our living room. I've been using cubby storage for a long time, but I'm ready for some real grown up furniture. This will be the biggest piece I've tackled, but I'm excited for the challenge. House goals 2019:
We're probably going to keep anything we do to the house low-cost and super DIY since we're getting married! We got engaged in November and are currently figuring out where and when to get married. That will put some of our renovations on hold, but I think I'll have enough to keep me busy! I will continue to cook my way through Ina's cookbooks (this was my favorite recipe from 2018) and add new recipes to my repertoire. I got an Instant Pot for Christmas, so I'll be learning how to use that as well! Grace and Maura as A Business A big goal of mine this year is to transition Grace and Maura from a passion project to a side hustle. I know its not cool to talk money, but I absolutely love everything I do on here, and I'd like to build it to a point where it is self-sustaining. I can honestly say this little space brings me more joy than I could have anticipated. I am constantly thinking about new ideas and ways to grow, this year I'm taking a leap and putting more of them into action. In order for me to cover the expenses associated with this blog and the projects, I need to really think of this as my company. I have some specific numbers in mind, which I won't bore you with here, but I am really excited for this goal. The Biggest Goal
My biggest goal is to remember to thank you more! I am so thankful for all of your support over this past year. I have loved getting to know each of you, and hope to get to know even more of you. I'm hoping to do a few giveaways this year just to show you how thankful I am! I wish you a happy, healthy, and productive 2019!
