about
Thanks for stopping by! I love having visitors. This is my littler cyber home on the internet. Having spent nearly a decade moving every few years, I really hungered for a place to call my own. One where I could put nail holes in the wall and paint the trim whatever color I chose. I longed not just for a house but for a space that truly felt like "home." In August of 2016 my boyfriend (now husband) and I were able to make the first part of that dream come true. We purchased his grandfather's home, a little mid-century ranch house up on a hill. While it needed extensive updates (hello orange floors and avocado walls), it had good bones and a good heart (if houses can have that). With a limited budget, lots of coffee, and a can-do attitude, I've slowly been transforming this space into our home. I drink a lot of coffee, then DIY and cook until it's time for wine! Join me for the coffee, the DIY, and stay for the food and wine. There's no "honey-do list" here, I do it all myself.
About me
My name is Liz. This blog has gone through several iterations over the years while I try to figure out what I'm interested in. I like to dabble in a little bit of everything. In fact the old name of this blog was "Liz of All Trades" but I felt like I had outgrown that. If you've been here before you may have noticed that I have deleted some old posts, and given it a little bit of a makeover (I do after all, love makeovers). I love my day job, but I was hungering for a creative outlet, so this little site was born. I guess the most relevant thing I can tell you is that I have never looked at something (a recipe, a book shelf, kitchen tile) and thought that I couldn't do it myself. It doesn't always come out exactly as planned, but it always comes out the way it's supposed to. I hope I can inspire you to tackle something on your own list- you can do it!
FAQ
FAQ
What's up with the name of the blog?
Grace and Maura are the cross streets where my little abode resides. Although I've always fancied myself a city-gal; there is an immense sense of peace between these two streets.
Why did you start this blog?
Honestly? I originally wanted to have a place to write about all the things I love and a place to flex my creative muscles. While that's still true, the things I love have changed. I'm really hoping to connect with other bloggers and DIYers. Mostly though, I'm glad to have a little place to share all the mistakes I make along the way so that others don't have to.
What makes you qualified to give home/cooking/anything else advice?
Other than the fact that I live in a home and eat food...nothing...so you should totally check with professionals before taking any advice here. This is really just meant to be me sharing what's worked (and hasn't worked) for me.
Why do you use affiliate links?
I use affiliate links for my readers convenience. It helps them to quickly find what I'm writing about, and it also helps offset the cost of running this site. Double win! This means that if you use the link and choose to make a purchase, I may get a commission at no cost to you. However, I only recommend products that I truly love. My posts are never influenced by the use of affiliate links and quite frequently I recommend things that I get no commission on simply because they are awesome.. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Do you do sponsored posts?
I could! If you have a quality product or an awesome company that you think my readers would enjoy, contact me; let's chat! :)
